Lawrence B. Palevsky, MD, FAAP

Dr. Palevsky, familiarly known by many as Dr. Larry, is a board certified pediatrician who uses a holistic approach in his practice of pediatric medicine. He integrates the use of western medicine and alternative therapies to prevent and treat children's illnesses, and offers options to families who are interested in a broader medical approach to their children's health and wellness. He values the role illness may play in children's lives and supports the use of safe, non-suppressive treatments to assist them in their healing. Dr. Palevsky is a strong advocate for the education and empowerment of families, and he strives to help parents access their knowledge and strengthen their confidences through their own experiences and intuition, thus supporting the idea parents are the primary care providers for their children.

Dr. Larry started Holistic Child Health, offering consultations and educational programs to families and practitioners in the areas of preventive and holistic health, nutrition for infants and children, safe, alternative treatments for common and difficult to treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions, vaccination controversies, mindful parenting and rethinking the medical paradigm. He discusses the fundamental principles of how children grow and mature and how we can nurture and support these processes without damaging their systems with suppressive policies and therapies.

In using a holistic approach, Dr. Palevsky integrates the use of many therapeutic options for children and families who experience such conditions as asthma, eczema, allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, ear infections, chronic congestion, diabetes, obesity, learning disabilities, developmental delays, neurological conditions, side effects of chronic medication use and perceived vaccination damage. Case by case he incorporates and counsels about the benefits of preventive medicine, nutrition, lifestyle changes, acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, chiropractic, osteopathy, cranial-sacral therapy, environmental medicine, homeopathy, essential oils and natural healing modalities such as aromatherapy, yoga, Reiki, meditation, reflexology and mindfulness.

Dr. Palevsky received his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine in 1987. He completed a three year pediatric residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC and a one year fellowship at Bellevue Hospital-NYU School of Medicine in the pediatric outpatient department and emergency room. Dr. Palevsky served as the Chief of the Pediatric Acute Care Unit at NYC's Lenox Hill Hospital and most recently was in practice as the holistic integrative pediatrician for the Center for Health & Healing, an integrative and complementary care medical facility affiliated with the Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC.

Dr. Larry's clinical experience includes work in pediatric emergency and intensive care medicine, in-patient and out-patient pediatric medicine, neonatal intensive care medicine, newborn and delivery room medicine and conventional, holistic and integrative pediatric private practice in NYC.
