Charles C. Coddington, III, MD

Dr. Coddington is a sub-specialty Board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and reproductive surgeon. Dr. Coddington earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Chemical Engineering and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After completing his internship and residency training at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda Maryland, Dr. Coddington practiced in Beaufort South Carolina with the Navy for two years prior to starting his Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship at the National Institute of Health. In addition to working at NIH, Dr. Coddington functioned as an active clinical staff physician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Navy Hospital. He then functioned as the Residency and Program Director at Portsmouth Navy Hospital where he had an active Reproductive Endocrine and Infertility practice. After retiring from the Navy, he went to the Jones Institute of Reproductive Medicine (where the first in-vitro fertilization resulted in a live birth in the United States) and worked as a staff physician and Director of the Division of Reproductive Medicine. After nine years, he moved to Colorado where he served as Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Denver Health Medical Center and functioned as an active member of the in-vitro fertilization and infertility team at the University of Colorado Health Sciences. Dr. Coddington joined the Mayo Clinic Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as the Chair of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility in July 2005. His clinical research interests in publications cover many aspects of the reproductive endocrinology, including reproductive surgery, endometriosis, in-vitro fertilization, sperm oocyte interaction, and ovulation induction.
